10-YEAR
MOTOR WARRANTY.

We built our motorized technology to last.
Our 10-year warranty is there so you can be sure it will.

Every motorized control we have built is covered. Registration required.

WHY WE CAN OFFER TEN YEARS.

Nothing in the sensing path touches anything else. No carbon track, no wiper, no code disc. Position is read with light, and torque passes through a magnetic field rather than a contact surface. Zero wear, by design. That is why the cover runs to a decade rather than a year.

ACTIVATE YOUR DECADE OF PLAY.

Registration activates the warranty on your instrument. Without it, your motorized controls are not covered. It also keeps you posted on firmware updates and preset packs.

Bought before 17th August 2026? You have until 17th February 2027 to register.

HOW IT WORKS.

Melbourne Instruments warrants the motorized control components of its products against defects in materials and workmanship for 10 years from the original date of purchase. This warranty applies to the motorized control components only, and sits alongside our standard warranty on the product as a whole.

What we will do

If a motorized component is found to be defective in materials or workmanship within the warranty period, we will repair it or replace it with a new or equivalent part, at our discretion and free of charge. Any repaired or replaced component is covered for the remainder of the original warranty period.

What is covered

This warranty covers the motorized rotary controls fitted to your instrument, and the parts that make them work: the drive motor and its magnet rotor, the precision-ground stainless steel shaft, the die-cast alloy body, and the contactless optical encoder that reads position. Cover is limited to those components. Non-motorized controls, and every other part of the instrument, are not covered by this warranty.

Who is covered

This warranty runs for 10 years from the original date of purchase and transfers with the product, provided the original proof of purchase is supplied with any claim. It applies to products purchased new from Melbourne Instruments or an authorised Melbourne Instruments reseller, and does not apply to products that have been used for hire.

Registration is required. Cover is activated when you register your instrument with Melbourne Instruments, and an unregistered product is not covered by this warranty. Instruments purchased on or after 17th August 2026 must be registered within 90 days of purchase. Instruments purchased before that date must be registered by 17th February 2027. Registration is free and takes seconds.

What is not covered

This warranty covers the motorized control components only, and does not cover the product as a whole or any other part. It does not cover damage caused by misuse, neglect, accident, improper installation, modification, or unauthorised repair, nor cosmetic wear, liquid ingress, or damage from external factors. Any repair carried out by anyone other than Melbourne Instruments or its authorised personnel will void this warranty.

How to claim

To make a claim, please contact us via the Support page or email support@melbourneinstruments.com with your proof of purchase, the serial number, and a description of the fault. Photos or video of the fault are useful to include. Please do not return the product to us unless we ask you to. We may request further information reasonably necessary to substantiate the claim.

Shipping

For the first 2 years from the original date of purchase, we cover shipping both ways on approved claims under the motorized component warranty. After that, you cover the cost of sending the item to us or to an authorised service point, and we cover return shipping on approved repairs. Our service points are located in Europe, USA and Australia.

Please remove any accessories before shipping; we are not liable for accessories or components sent with the product.

Your statutory rights

This warranty is offered in addition to your rights under applicable consumer law, which vary by country and are not affected by it.
